Full Moon Meditations
Beginning in January 2027
Full Moon, beautiful Full Moon, I know you are there, and I am very happy
~ Plum Village
Nine Lives Meditation will offer a monthly Full Moon Meditation on the actual day of each full Moon, at 3:00 pm EDT/USA. The Moon is our sentinel and reminds us that all of life is sacred.
It is said that Siddhartha Gautama was born under the full Moon and also marks the auspicious night of his enlightenment, when reality revealed herself to him and his illusions vanished, when he confronted the negative forces of Mara.
This is a time for gathering together, a time for deep retrospection and calm. I will be offering a brief teaching on the significance of each full Moon, sharing how our history incorporates the stars in their astrological precession and our connectedness with everything in the Cosmos. Along with many cultures around the world, including the Buddhist tradition, we honour this monthly event.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This 60 minute meditation opens with a short blessing for humanity and the cosmos. If we have a candle, we can light it together. There is a Full Moon teaching, a Full Moon Meditation, and a brief Q&A session at the end. If you don't already have consider keeping a Moon journal to observe your interior life through this beautiful practice.
While there are four Moon phases in each month, for the moment, I am only offering a Full Moon Meditation once a month on the actual full Moon. The full Moon changes by one or two days every month, but the meditation time stays the same, at 3:00 pm EDT/USA. The fee for each Full Moon Meditation monthly session is $25 per person. Click here to reserve your space.
From January 2027, there will also be a freely-offered community New Moon Sangha.

I also offer private one-on-one astrological monthly meditations during the first week of the Full Moon. The cost for this is $125. To arrange an appointment, please contact me here.
To this day, the four Moon phases are still valuable additions in a meditation practice that dates back to ancient cultures around the world. Moon phases are a special times of each month. These are opportunities to re-balance ourselves when the Moon enters a new quarterly phase. As the oceans’ tide moves with the Moon, seasons change, women’s cycles mysteriously align, and the fact that our bodies are mostly water, it stands to reason that these phases, so important to ancient and current agriculture, would affect all of us, beyond the sentient population into the heart of Nature herself. It is a time to gently set intentions, to inquire what the cosmos may be suggesting to us and to re-set our equilibrium in tune with the natural world in which we live. The Moon has helped us to work with time, to differentiate night and day, to assist with agriculture, with the cycles from fertility to inception and fruition to death, then right back to renewal. Birth and death are human constructs pertaining to living energy in a variety of forms. Understanding this can help us to not only accept that all things are impermanent and that we are constantly in a flux of transformation. We become closer to understanding and knowing our own bodies and our emotions heightened by Moon phases.
Brighter stars and star clusters have long assisted navigators and astronomers that have mapped the sky as the Moon drifts past them, orbiting around our Earth, which in turn orbits around the sun, taking us along this extraordinary journey.
WHAT ARE MOON PHASES:
We see the Moon with wonder in the sky, most vividly at night, in the absence of the Sun. But it is not the Moon that is glowing, in fact, it sheds no light at all! We have the Moon orbiting around our Earth and our Earth orbiting around the Sun. The angle of the positions of the Sun, Moon and Earth changes daily. What we can see throughout each month is the amount of sunlight reflected off the moon, creating this luminous magical changing moon. From no moon visible in the sky when each cycle begins moving into observing a thin crescent that over the days, is marked in quarterly phases gradually enlarging to the fullness of a perfect circle of glowing reflection.
Each lunar cycle varies slightly but is averaged out to 29.53059 days. This explains why we have lunar months and calendar months. The four primary phases are called New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter. Then we have what are called the secondary phases of the Moon and these are known as Waxing Crescent, Waxing Gibbous, Waning Gibbous and Waning Crescent. The difference between the primary phases and secondary phases is because the primary phases occur at one specific moment, and while that moment will be a different time in one part of the world, it is always a stationary time in itself and is calculated depending on where you live on the planet. The secondary phases describe a span of time, and is not specific.
